The team at Ardmore have proudly provided our own out of hours emergency service along with our normal hours services since we began.
The changing veterinary industry has put us in a position where we are now no longer able to maintain this service by ourselves.
Many other local practices have a contracted dedicated veterinary emergency care provider (like the human A & E equivalent in Bury or Colchester). Over the years this has led to an increase in emergency calls for our own vets. Along with a big increase in pet ownership during Covid and a severe shortage of vets and nurses locally and nationally, this means our own vets and nurses can no longer maintain working at this level through the nights and weekends and then on into the following days and weekdays.
In order to continue to provide our service during the day to the best and expected level as well as retain and recruit staff we now also need to pass some of our out of hours care onto the VetsNow emergency clinics in Colchester (01206842224) and Witham (01376530759).
Like many individuals, businesses and industries working through the last 18 months to continue provide services for their clients, our staff are extremely dedicated but they are also exhausted. Therefore this was not a choice for us but a necessity to be able to remain providing the best possible care for your pets now and for the future. Many of us have provided our out of hours service here alongside our normal hours service for one, two or more decades so this been a change we have resisted for as long as possible. We hope this provides an understanding of the change.
We understand that you may have some concerns but rest assured should you need to visit VetsNow they are emergency specialists, your pets will be well looked after.
In the event of an emergency outside of normal hours please call 07836723934 where you will either be connected to one of our nurses for advice and triage or directly on to VetsNow.
